The reason that these devices are consistently referred to as "baby ear thermometers" is because most adults are able to use a conventional thermometer and can't justify the additional expense associated with a baby ear thermometer. However, personally I prefer to use a baby ear thermometer as it is so much more convenient (I hate having a thermometer stuck in my mouth when I am feeling unwell!) and because the temperature reading that you receive is so much more accurate.

Are Baby Ear Thermometers for Use on Babies Only?
I am in fact often answered this question. And the answer is a resounding no. The baby ear thermometer is suitable for use on the whole family including older children, adults and the elderly. In addition, adults don't need the help of someone else - it is very easy in fact to monitor your own body temperature by inserting the device into the year yourself and pushing the button.
